Costaripa, Campostarne

Costaripa, Campostarne

The vintage unfolded in a year marked by a spring with scarce rainfall and an April that intriguingly blanketed the mountains above 1100 meters in white. The subsequent months proved truly atypical for a region renowned for its temperate climate, with May bringing frequent and refreshing rain showers, while June saw temperatures soaring above 37°C. Despite the unusual weather, our vineyards, nurtured through traditional land tillage, fortuitously absorbed the July rains, averting any perilous drought stress. The slightly delayed flowering and lower-than-expected production were compensated by the luxuriant foliage, promoting higher sugar content and rapid ripening. The harvest yielded an abundance of splendid, ripe grapes boasting well-shaped and juicy fruits, embodying a harmonious balance between freshness and sweetness.

The harvesting process, a meticulous affair carried out exclusively by hand, transpired in the first light of dawn when both the air and the fruit were at their coolest, ensuring the preservation of the grapes’ crisp skins.

As for the wine itself, its appearance unfolds in a deep ruby red hue, crystalline and intense. The bouquet extends an inviting blend of violets and ripe red forest fruits, enveloped in a pervasive and welcoming spirit accompanied by notes of spices, pepper, and roasted nuts. On the palate, evident, vertical, and sinuous tannins contribute to excellent harmony and structure, offering a pleasantly textured sensation with full length and persistence. The wine’s outstanding structure and freshness distinctly define its unique character.
