Costaripa, Rosamara Valtenesi

The exceptionally dry seasonal weather trend, marked by slower sprouting to ward off the frost during the 1st week of March, was complemented by the Valtènesi area’s soil rich in rock fragments, providing outstanding resistance to evaporation. This resilience allowed the first moment of stress to surface in the 2nd week of July, coinciding with the 1st day of rain, ensuring a flawless state of health and phenolic ripening. Blooming, despite the challenge of water scarcity, occurred in early June with no loss of flowers, aided by the fortuitous frosts. The ensuing uneven fruit setting was a telltale sign of a dry year. The timely veraison set the stage for a harvest on September 4, involving a meticulous selection of well-ripened and perfectly balanced grapes through the practiced hands of skilled harvesters. Following the tradition of recent years, manual harvesting elevated the artistry of selecting optimally ripe bunches, resulting in excellent quality with a 20% reduction in production. The wine exhibits a light pink hue, reminiscent of a just-blossomed rose, almost pearl-like, indicative of the meticulous treatment of free-run must during the gradual draining process. Its inviting bouquet is subtly spicy and fresh, featuring fruity notes of vineyard peaches, small red fruits, and black pepper, accompanied by light hints of hawthorn, grapefruit, and pomegranate. The flavor profile is characterized by a silky texture, harmonious and ample, with excellent persistence and sapidity, culminating in a long finale with a subtle aftertaste of bitter almonds.

Production Technique:

In the realm of vinification for wine connoisseurs, the artistry unfolds through the application of "teardrop" technology. This technique delicately extracts pure free-run juice, employing static dripping prior to fermentation. The result is a must that encapsulates the very essence of the grape, a liquid embodiment of the grape's core. The refinement phase sees 50% of this precious must undergoing a transformative journey, as it ferments and matures within small, seasoned 228-liter white oak barrels for approximately 6 months. This meticulous process culminates in a wine of unparalleled depth and character, where craftsmanship and nature converge in a symphony of flavor.
